Glasgow Road was closed off to traffic very early this morning, as police were out marking the road and undertaking an investigation. Sadly, we have learned that a man has died after being struck by a car in at this location early last night.
The 59-year-old was crossing Glasgow Road in Blantyre at about 00:45 when he was hit by a car. He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride but died a short time later.
The 18-year-old driver of the car and his two teenage passengers did not require medical treatment.Police are continuing to investigate the crash and a full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
The road closure was between the Old Original and the Parkville, with traffic diverted away from the area.
Photo was 7.00am this morning and it is understood the road is back open again.
